Department Of Shalyathantra

The scope of this department has reached into Orthopedics, Surgery and para-surgical techniques. Uncomplicated acute orthopedic conditions as well as chronic spinal and joint pathologies constitutes the orthopedic segment. Teaching and training of general surgery as well as limited practice of ano-rectal surgeries constitute the surgical discipline. Ksharasoothra (caustic cauteries), agnikarma (thermo cautery), rektha moksha (blood letting) are the outstanding parasurgical techniques practiced.

The Department conducted re-orientation training programme in 2001 on Ksharasoothra. Teachers and medical officers from all over the country participated. Besides, the department organizes medical camps at periodical intervals.
