Department of Rasasastra and Bhaishajyakalpana primarily deal with the Pharmaceutical aspects of Ayurveda. The activities of Department is compartmentalised in to three- Academy,Research and Pharmacy. The academic side mainly aim to create an in depth knowledge about the subject and make them confident to prepare medicines needed in their future clinical practice. Also Department is planning to make a bridge between academy and industrial aspects of Ayurveda for the mutual benefit. .Research activities chiefly contemplate on the development of novel formulations that are cost effective ,safe , and user friendly. Department own a Pharmacy producing quality medicines to meet the demand of our hospital.


HISTORY

Vaidyaratnam Ayurveda College,Ollur was started in 1976 and the separate department of Rasashastra&BhaisajyaKalpana was started as early as 2000 . Department was later conceived as per the university and CCIM norms from the same year itself .

DEPARTMENT INFRASTRUCTURE AND FACILITIES :

  • A teaching lab for both Rasashastra and Bhaisajyakalpana.
  • Quality control lab to conduct various analytical tests for Ayurvedic drugs as perstandards.
  • A Museum.
  • Department Library.
  • A Medicine Manufacturing unit

Academic and General:

To conduct ROTP’s, seminars, workshops, CMES, medical camps associated with karkitaka month named as ArogyaSapthaham.

Project works of home surgeons are directly under our supervision.

Special yogasmentioned in different reference books are prepared here and distributed in OP’s through PG students and house surgeons.

To prepare more than 15 types of Kashaya choornams, 10 types of sukshmachoornams and special thailams.
